It’s always better to catch a problem early, and routine maintenance is one of the best ways to accomplish that.

Read and Obey Your Owner’s Manual

Always consult your owner’s manual and follow the specific advice it contains. It will tell you the service schedule and which fluids, cleaning solutions, etc. to use. If you don’t comply with these recommendations, you might void your warranty. 

Inspect Your RV Regularly and Proactively

Make it a habit to inspect your rig regularly. Look closely around seams, corners, and dents for any water coming through the exterior. Make sure all the interior and exterior lights and outlets work properly. Check that the tire inflation is correct and inspect the tires for wear.

For motorhomes, check oil levels, brake fluid, and coolant, and top off any low levels. 

Check the Wastewater Systems

Make sure your vehicle's wastewater system is functioning correctly. A clogged system is no fun. Use appropriate biodegradable RV-grade toilet paper and empty the RV's holding tank regularly. 

Replace Filters on Schedule

RVs, especially motorhomes. can have lots of filters including air filters, coolant filters, fuel filters, and hydraulic filters. A good time to check all your filters is when you are getting an oil change.
