Your first RV trip is a unique experience, full of fun and excitement, but it can also offer numerous challenges as well. There are many lessons to learn, and mistakes to avoid. One thing that many new RV owners struggle with is safely parking their campers for the first time. That is why Leach Camper Sales has created this guide to safe RV parking.

Check the Campsite Ahead of Time

Most official campsites will have websites where you can find information on the dimensions of their lots, which can be a big help when it comes to parking. If possible, find out if your campsite will have overhanging trees, light fixtures, or power lines, as these can all present obstacles when it comes to parking your RV.

Find a Flat Space

Always park on a flat and even space if possible. While a paved concrete slab is unlikely to present many problems in this regard, you may still need to clear the area of debris before you park. If no concrete slab is available, find the flattest, most even spot possible.

Get Someone to Guide You

One of the best ways to make parking your RV easier is to have a spotter help you. The spotter can communicate with you via hand signals or spoken instructions, so long as you understand what they are trying to tell you. If you are camping alone or no one from your group is present, we suggest asking a ranger or another camper for their assistance.
